Math

Mathematics is a science and language of patterns. The ultimate goal of mathematics instruction is to foster students’ appreciation of mathematics and confidence in their ability to continue to learn. Students must connect mathematical ideas and concepts with other subject areas and apply it to real life situations. Students must leave math class with the confidence they can learn the math skills they need throughout their lives.

2)      Integrates the study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence;

3)      Draws its content from the history and culture of our nation and the world, geography, economics, social institutions; and

4)      Is taught in ways that reflects an awareness of the personal, social, and cultural experiences and development levels of learners.

Health and Fitness

Learning efficiency is possible only when coupled with a healthy lifestyle. The mission of the Blaine School District physical education program is to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, combined with social and physical skills, that enable them to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.

Fine Arts

The fine arts are creative expressions using sound, image, and movement as a means to satisfy the human need to create and communicate thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. The fine arts are essential to a well-balanced school curriculum. They include visual arts, music, drama and dance.

The primary purpose of the fine arts in the Blaine School District is to ensure that students will experience creative processes, recognize aesthetic qualities, effectively communicate knowledge of the arts, and become lifelong learners with the ability to make informed and creative decisions within a culturally diverse environment.

The fine arts provide avenues for self-discovery, balancing academic pursuits with creative and intuitive thinking and production of creative works of art.

Technology

The primary goal of technology use in the Blaine School District is to increase student achievement in all content areas. The integration of technology into classroom teaching will provide learning experiences that are highly interactive and subject appropriate.

Students and staff will have access to appropriate technology resources to research, analyze, problem solve, and synthesize. Blaine School District will provide students with opportunities to use technology applications for pursuing knowledge and producing outcomes. Our aim is to develop technology and information literate citizens. Students will understand the applications of technology both for learning and for use in the workplace.
