THE BLAINE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A MIDDLE SCHOOL-HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE COACH.  This position is for the 2008-2009 school year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid 4-12  Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Science
  • Competency in both written and oral English
  • Acceptable personal habits, including good job attendance and punctuality.
  • Good mental and physical health
  • Emotional stability to work with high school and middle school students and staff
  • Collaborative and highly effective group facilitator
  • Strong/effective leader
  • Deep knowledge of current science content/EALR’s
  • Ability to model effective science inquiry based lessons

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Ability to design, develop, and evaluate curricula for the science programs
  • Peer coaching and/or leadership experience
  • Ability to develop programs and policies aimed at improving learning skills for all students
  • Knowledge/experience with middle school STC Science + current best practices/research in Science
  • Experience as a successful science teacher
  • Expertise with formative assessments

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The chosen candidate will work collaboratively with District and Building administration to positively impact science instruction and ultimately student achievement at the MS and HS levels.
  • Facilitate Collaborative PLC’s at the MS and HS
  • Evaluate current programs, make recommendations for improvement, be the facilitator of the team implementing appropriate changes.

HOURS:                                                                        SALARY:

.80 FTE                                                                        Placement on State Salary Schedule according to credits                                                                                                 and applicable years of experience
