Principal's Message

Principal’s Corner!

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Blaine Primary School! It is my pleasure to be the Principal of this truly wonderful school.  This will be my 29th year working for the Blaine School District, both as a teacher of Kindergarten, fourth and fifth grades and as a Principal.

To tell you a little about myself, I was raised in Portland Oregon and went to Oregon State University, Go Beavers! Where I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education.  After graduation I moved to Blaine as my family had returned after my father’s retirement from the Immigration Service. To further my education, I attended Western Washington University and earned an endorsement in Special Education during my fifth year then went on to earn a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.  After teaching in the classroom for nineteen years, I felt it was time to try another aspect of education and earned my Administrative Endorsement at WWU.

I am very fortunate to have my family and special friends in Whatcom County.  My mom was a Borderite, the class of 1949!  She was very excited when I was hired in Blaine.  My brother works for the school district so I get to see him regularly, which is great.  I have two nephews, Scott who is 24 and Shane who is 19.  Both are working near by.  I also have two nieces, Savanna, 12, who attends Kulshan Middle School and Sidney, 8 who attends Wade King Elementary.  The girls love soccer and participating in local drama productions.  Lastly, my little Pug Twinkles who is just a cutie.  She attends Doggie Daycare at TAW while I’m at work, so it’s like she goes to school too!

As you can tell, I am very lucky to have family nearby and a job I truly enjoy.

I feel very fortunate to be part of Blaine School District and look forward to the 2009-2010 school year.

Sincerely yours,

Nancy Bakarich
