AT BLAINE PRIMARY WE STRIVE TO DO OUR BEST
GENERAL SCHOOL RULES:
Show respect for others, self, and property:
* This includes all adults
* Remember to use appropriate language
* Let others learn
* Respect school property and that of others
* The following will not be tolerated: bullying, name calling, threats,
play fighting, wrestling, (keep hands and feet to self), and gum chewing.
Follow Directions the First time:
Positive examples are:
* Listening
* Following directions
* Completing work
Consequences:
* Warning for not listening
* Time out in recess area
* Time out in office
* Miss next recess
Group gathering (Multipurpose Room):
Expectations:
* Sit on bottoms
* Listen quietly
* Stay with class
* Respond appropriately to performer
Consequences:
* Warning/Time Out
* Leave the performance and go to the office
Bus Line-up Time:
Expectations:
* Stay in line until dismissed
* Use quiet voices
* Keep hands, feet and backpacks to self
Consequence:
* Warning
* Teacher will give time out when appropriate
* If a student hurts another in the bus line, the student will go to the office
and parent will be contacted to pick up the student
Hallway Behavior:
Expectations:
* Walk
* Use quiet voices
* Keep hands to self
* Stay to the right
Consequence:
* Warning to walk and listen
* Have student go back and walk appropriately
* Time out
Performing Arts Center:
Expectations:
* Keep writing desks down
* Stay seated without bouncing
* Feet off the seats
Consequence:
* Warning/Time Out
* Leave the performance and go to the school office
RECESS RULES:
Expectations:
* Play safe, play fair
* Stay in designated play areas (supervisor must be able to see you at all times)
* Walk on any pavement
* Stay off the top of the monkey bars
* No spitting anywhere on school property
* Leave the rocks on the ground
* Use appropriate voices
Covered Play Area at Recess:
Expectations:
* Use appropriate voices
* Walk on the pavement
* Stay inside yellow line divider from road
* Use picnic table appropriately
* Keep off divider wall
Consequences:
* Warning for not listening
* Time out in recess area
* Time out in office
* Miss next recess
MAJOR BEHAVIOR CONCERNS
The following are considered major behavior concerns and will result
in student referral to the office:
1. Disruption of the learning process
2. Threatening physical behavior
3. Defiant behavior
4. Destructive behavior
Procedures For Major Behavior Concerns:
* Referral filled out by staff member (for record keeping)
* Report to and sit in designated spot in the office;the study carrel,
the student desk, lastly the volunteer desk.
* Office staff reports to the principal or designee to conference with the child
* A problem solving sheet stating a "better choice plan"is constructed with help
from the principal or designee
* An apology describing the inappropriate behavior is written, or a picture is drawn,
then given to the offended person or persons
* Student is returned to class after the above is completed and the student shows
appropriate behavior
* As the school office is a public space and out of control behavior or rage may be
frightening to others,the student will be directly escorted to the time-out room
until the behavior is de-escalated
* Student may be sent home if out of control behavior continues.
* Notation made in student file
* Phone call home (principal or designee)
Weapons Free Zone:
* No guns, knives or swords (this includes toys)
