BLAINE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT INTERNET USER AGREEMENT

ACCEPTABLE USE - The main purpose of student use of the internet is to do research in support of education and classroom requirements.  Internet use must be consistent with the educational objectives of the Blaine School District.  [All information sent or received from a school computer, including email messages, is not private nor confidential, and may be accessed by school district personnel at any time.]  The following uses are restricted:
•Use of any other organization’s network or computing resources must comply with the rules appropriate for that network.
•Each student receiving a network account is responsible for the contents of that account and may not open or use another student’s account.
•Transmission of any material in violation of any U.S. or state regulation is prohibited.
•Use for commercial activities is not acceptable.
•Use for product advertisement or political lobbying is also prohibited.
•Downloading of files or pictures must be first approved by a sponsoring faculty member.
•Non-education online games, computer games (cds, etc.), and chat rooms are not allowed.
•Student email is only to be used to send work to and from home and school.

PRIVILEGES - The use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in a series of cancelled privileges: 1st offense for a week, 2nd for a semester, and 3rd for the entire school year.  [Some uses defined as inappropriate include software pirating, hacking, copyright violations, harassments or threats, defamation, using obscenities, viewing or downloading pornographic materials, or attempting to bypass or bypassing the school’s filtering system.]

Before students are allowed to use the internet, they must receive training that introduces the internet, explains District policy, and asks students to do some basic searches as a guide to general Internet use,  and they must turn in a signed internet user agreement to the library.

Finally, the system administrators will deem what is inappropriate use and their decision is final.  Also, the system administrators may restrict access at any time as required.  The administration, faculty, and staff of Blaine School District may request the system administrator to deny, revoke, or suspend specific user access.

WARRANTIES - Blaine School District makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing. Blaine School District will not be responsible for any damages suffered. This includes loss of data resulting from delays, non-deliveries, mis-deliveries, or service interruptions caused by its own negligence, errors, or omissions. Use of any information obtained via the Internet is at the individual's own risk. Blaine School District specifically denies any responsibility for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through its services.

The following user agreement must be signed and returned to the high school library before students will be allowed individual access to the Internet.
