Printing

As you will see, we have both Macintosh and Dell computers. Knowing how to print and knowing which printer is doing the job is critical. Below are instructions for both types.

There are three main ways in which to begin the printing process on a Macintosh:
1) Using the mouse to go to file and then dragging down to print,
2) Using the keyboarding shortcut of simultaneously pressing the command key (the key next to the space bar) and P,
3) Clicking on the print button on the screen while in Explorer.

The very next screen after sending the print command on a Macintosh computer will display a window that says in the top line: Printer, and next to that will be the name of the printer where the job is being sent. Most of the time, the printer named will be HS Library LJ4200. This is the printer on the counter between Mr. Bacon and Mrs.  McDonald's desks .

For the Dells, the shortcut command to print is ctrl-p. This will bring up a window and it will show which printer will print in the top of the box. You can also click on the print button in Explorer but you will not know which printer has been selected. The default printer for the Dells is the HS Lib. Lab LJ4100.

Printing directly off the internet wastes paper because often it is difficult to tell how long a document is and printing will also include graphics and images you don't need. The more pictures, fancy fonts, and images, the slower the printing will be. To prevent slower printing jobs and save paper, copy the text you want printed, open a word processing program, paste the text into a new file, and then print.
