"BACK TO AFRICA" ACTIVITY

African Americans in the 1920's faced many problems. While there were many solutions that people proposed, Marcus Garvey had an idea of his own. He wanted to create a new political state for African Americans in Africa. For this activity you will create a flyer that would encourage African Americans to move back to Africa. This activity will be worth 100 points

REQUIREMENTS

-Flyer must be on 8 1/2 X 11 inch paper with a tri-fold pattern

-Must make use of color and pictures

-Must list some problems that African Americans face and goals of organization

GRADING RUBRIC (the following will be graded on a 1-4 rated)

    1. Flyer accurately illustrates organizations platform
    2. Flyer is clear and appropriate to the topic
    3. Flyer is concise, creative, catchy and effective
    4. Flyer is clean, neat and well organized
    5. Spelling, punctuation, and grammar is accurate
    6. Artwork is appropriate and carefully done
    7. Flyer demonstrates and understanding of the topic
    8. Flyer fulfills the requirements of the assignment
    9. Effort is obvious
