CLOSE-UP

The "Close-up" trip is a weeklong trip to Washington D.C. where students learn hands on about our government.  It is an in depth and extensive study (it also costs about $1700) that is not for all students, but those that go come away with a new understanding of our political process and history.

The Close-Up foundation is both non-profit and non-partisan.  It has no affiliation with any branch of government, political party or interest group.  The program presents different sides of issues, which allows participants to make their own political judgments.  Blaine High School as sent 400 students over the past 13 years to Washington D.C. to learn a "hands-on" approach to civic education.
