I serve as Blaine High School's librarian as well as being head cross country coach and the distance and long jump coach for the track team. I am happy to say this is my 21st year as librarian and 10th year as a coach.
My interests include reading (surprise), running, and hiking and backpacking.

Education
Experience
Reading is not the only key to success in education, but it's the most fundamental stepping stone. I read because I find truth in fiction. Either these truths are confirmed from my own experiences in a way that is fascinating, enlightening, or riveting, or I learn something new outside my own narrow world of experience.
My preferences change, much like favorite authors. Given time, I read mysteries. I am also a member of an informal book club which has read many excellent titles including some Pulitzer Prize winners, some environmentally focused works, and a few great pieces of non-fiction. Historical fiction that combines great writing with historical accuracy is also enjoyable.
Presently, I am reading Barbara Kingsolver (contemporary fiction), Ellis Peters (pseudonym for Edith Pargeter- writer of medieval mysteries), and Dorothy Dunnett (fabulous historical fiction writer), Mary Oliver, a wonderful poet, Philip Pullman, anything of Avi's, and Robert B. Parker (Spenser mysteries).
