Course Offerings
AEROBICS
- PREREQUISITE: NONE (9, 10, 11, 12)
- This class is designed to promote an improved level of
fitness and increased knowledge of fitness activities and
wellness principles. Activities will include: bench aerobics,
dance aerobics, light weight training for toning, circuit
training and more. The class will also include information
regarding heart rate, ideal body weight, nutrition, and health
benefits associated with fitness activities.
LIFETIME SPORTS
- PREREQUISITE: Access to ten-speed bicycle; a fee is required
(10, 11, 12)
- The objective of this class is to develop skills in
such activities as golf, tennis, bicycling, bowling, badminton,
pickleball and ping-pong.
TEAM SPORTS
- PREREQUISITE: NONE (9,10,11,12)
- The objective of this course is to provide students with an
opportunity to participate in a variety of team sport
activities such as; football, soccer, volleyball, basketball,
and softball to improve individual physical skills and to
foster cooperation and respect among classmates. Students will
participate in fitness and strength training activites as
well.
WALKING
- PREREQUISITE: NONE (9, 10, 11, 12)
- This course is designed to stress the importance of
cardiovascular, muscular, and mental fitness development for
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The course will help students
acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for
physical fitness through participation in a carefully monitored
walking program. A variety of instructional information and
teaching strategies adaptable to classroom use are
provided.
WEIGHT TRAINING
- PREREQUISITE: NONE (9, 10, 11, 12)
- This class is designed to help students develop
muscular strength and endurance. Emphasis is placed on weight
lifting, plyometrics, flexibility, endurance, speed, the
vertical jump, and agility. Students will work with the teacher
to develop an individualized program, enabling them to achieve
their desired goals.
