Meet Ms. Swindler . . .

Ms. Swindler is #2600!
I moved to Washington in the summer of 1980 and started teaching at Blaine Elementary School in February of 1981. I had already taught in my home state of Ohio and the state of Florida before coming to Washington. I am really glad I came here. It gets too cold in Ohio in the winter and there are no mountains in Florida, although swimming in the warm parts of the Atlantic Ocean in the winter and picking grapefruit off the tree in the backyard was fun.

 I LOVE . . .

to hike and climb mountains (the easy ones), to snow ski and.....O.K., I love to do things in the mountains. I especially like to sit and watch the sunset from my camp while I drink hot chocolate. I like plants and I like to work in my yard, sometimes doing landscape projects and sometimes working in my vegetable garden. I love to teach! It is always fun to have former students come back to visit.

It's FUN for me to . . .

read books. I think it is fun to get lost in a good book. It is relaxing and I can escape doing the dishes or cleaning the house (things that are definitely not fun) for several hours. I have fun playing with my cat, Sparky. I think it is fun to write stories and letters although I should take more time to do that. I also like to bake. I can make a great batch of brownies and I'm pretty good with chocolate chip cookies. (Are you noticing a chocolate theme here?) Oh, and I think it is fun to go kayaking.

I'm GOOD at . . .
making pasta dishes, eating crab and chocolate, packing my backpack to go on an adventure, pulling weeds in the garden, looking for unusual rocks and shells on the beach and finding excuses not to clean my house.

I wish I was BETTER at . . .

singing, playing a musical instrument, anything musical....running faster.....saving money.......cleaning my house ......juggling and performing magic tricks
