Support for You and Your Child

Most of us experience difficulties and uncertainties at some point in our lives, and need a bit of help or support. Your school counselor is available to:

  • help students, on and individual basis, deal with personal problems or family issues such as transition to a new school, social/peer interactions, depression, abuse, stress, harassment, or grief/loss.
  • refer families to neede community resources and professional services when appropriate.
  • work with parents and teachers to track a child's progress in meeting academic and behavioral goals.
  • sponsor support groups to help students explore issues such as changing families, self-esteem, death and loss, friendship, anger and other feelings.
  • provide and support BES classroom guidance activities which include the topics of safety, drug and alcohol education, study skills, careers, and positive character traits.
  • participate with BES staff in the development of building-wide programs for learning improvements and school safety.
