Safety (3.3):

Students will follow 3 simple rules/Levels/Solving Conflicts; have shoes tied/secured properly; focus on safe locomotor movement. Students are not to purposely kick the soccer balls at another student.

Set-Up and Equipment:
1: Stereo and Music CD, 28 soccer balls

Introduction:
Time Activity

1 Have Students line up along the wall as they come in (to tie their shoes).

3,4,5 Once all the students have arrived have them jog/walk TO MUSIC for the time of their grade
(i.e. 3 min. for 3rd graders, etc.) with 4/5th graders taking their pulse and comparing it to the TARGET ZONE HEART RATE wall chart

2 Stretch: Quadriceps (or "Quads") stretch. Discuss the quadriceps muscle, how many muscles make up the Quads, and how to stretch the group. Then stretch for 30 seconds each side.

3 min. Soccer warm-up dribbling the ball in self space with CONTROL

4 Long Pass (Shoelace Kick)
Is power pass in kicking, and for hitting ball past goalie.
Students are to use the width of the gym for this particular pass.
Contact is made with top of the foot on the shoelaces
Lower leg is then "snapped" forward at the knee
Follow through goes the desired direction of the ball
To lift the ball make contact with your foot to the ball below the mid line of the ball.

4 Kicker's Choice: At 15' away work on kicking and trapping with either foot. But when you receive the ball, and after you trap you pick up the ball - drop it from chest height and after the first bounce you try to "Juggle" the ball with your body.
3rd:body trapping
4th and 5th: 1-2 Juggles then body trap
then pass the ball back to your partner.

4 Dribbling, Marking and recovery

With partners one student dribbles the ball around the gym. The other student marks the person until I say switch at which point the partner tries to steal the ball away from the other. If unsuccessful in stealing by the time I say "continue" then partner with ball must give the ball to the other.

8 min. Partner Passing Drill: Have students stand on Black center line with ball.
Go down the line collecting ball from every other student.
Then go to end of gym (by entrance) and form a line against the wall
of students that have a ball; then form a line of students without a ball 10' from the other line.

have students pass the ball after dribbling ball 3 times with partner in other line. Have the one that starts with the ball from the ball line go down and then end up at the end of the line without the ball...rotating each time.
