| Program Goal Area 4.0: Knowledge Grades 3-5 |
When being involved in structured, or organized, physical activities, such as recreational games, indoor/outdoor adventure activities, educational dance, and sports, there is a need for a a level of knowledge to understand the basic rules and etiquette involved in each of these activities. Knowledge of organized physical activities has a significant impact on the development of social interaction and increased likelihood of participation in physical activity.
My objective of this fourth and final goal is to establish learning outcomes for the actual knowledge of organized physical activities. While not addressed in specific state or national standards I feel that it is essential that a child learn how to enjoy physical activity based on the knowledge associated with various types of physical activity.
Knowledge learning goal and outcomes relates to the national standard NASPE content standards for a physically educated person:
| NASPE 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction. |
